An exercise in assessing financial metrics opened this chance to rejuvenate a famous but neglected historic icon in this seaside town. Transformation of the site into a boutique accommodation and dining destination would not only attract guests for the immediate business, but help increase the area’s tourism potential as a whole.
Through recapturing it’s past grandeur, the historic villa will act as a thematic anchor for the remaining redevelopment. Original stone materiality and French Indochine styling shall be restored and extended in deference to it’s architectural lineage. The building’s cellular structure is retained, leading to intimately scaled room configurations. Local cultural and material references introduce a contemporary twist for the interiors; whilst the top terrace level is activated as a bar and dining terrace form where guests can enjoy the wonderful 270 degree sea views.
